Visions of the end - A showing dedicated to the apocalypse, featuring animated episodes of disaster, ruin, and unfettered destruction.
Beyond the Brink - While the previous showing features characters amidst the end-times, this looks at shows and episodes that that feature the survivors doing what they can to hold onto life or rebuild society.
As we are focused entirely on anime, many of our panels are focused on specific styles, genres, or other elements of anime that cite a number of sources. In an effort to build a better con, and create a more comprehensive and fulfilling experience, we are following many of our panels up with a showing, arranged by the presenter, featuring some of the anime discussed in his/her presentation! Whether you attend the panel or not, you will be able to enjoy the showings. If you attend both it will probably knock your socks off.
Slice of Life - Following the Slice of Life panel, check out these titles which were featured and discussed.
Irresponsible Anime - Following the Irresponsible Anime panel, check out these titles which feature reckless and morally ambiguous anime characters behaving in a manner that might make a negative impression upon the youth of this nation.
Sports Anime - Same as above, but for the Sports Anime panel. Go figure, right?
The following genres will all receive a showing of four or five episodes. Each episode will be from a different decade, and will be of the most popular and/or representative of it's time anime for that genre. The episodes and shows chosen should give the viewers a fairly hands on and comprehensive understanding of how the genre has changed and evolved over time.
Mecha - We will look at Mecha beginning with the Super Robots of the 70's, leading through every decade until the deconstructionist mecha of today.
Magical Girl - No Genre has seen a change in tone like this one has. Beginning as a childrens adventure genre, it has grown through pop idols, scantily clad warrioresses, lolita complex fodder, to a platform for serious storytelling. This will be the most ambitious showing of the convention!
Harem Anime - Whether you love it or hate it (and there are few who don't fall into one of these categories), the harem genre of anime is huge. It is also one of the most evolving (or devolving) genres, having a number of distinct eras in its history.
